Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601)

ETA is an electronic authorization to visit Australia for tourism or business purposes. It is available to passport holders in many countries and regions in the world. Most ETAs are issued online by the Australian Immigration Service to travel agents or agents, airlines or other similar service providers around the world. There is no application fee for this type of visa, but a service fee of 20AUD is payable. You can apply for this type of visa online through the Australian Immigration Services website if you are on the list of countries whose nationals are eligible to apply for this visa.

eVisitor (subclass 651)

eVisitor (subclass 651) is a free visa for nationals of certain countries who are outside Australia at the time of applying for a visa and who wish to visit Australia for tourism or business purposes. There is no application processing fee for this subclass of species, and you can submit the application online through the Australian Immigration Service's website if you are on the list of countries whose nationals are eligible to apply for this visa.

The visitor (subclass 600)

A tourist visa (subclass 600) is intended for those who wish to travel to Australia as tourists, for business or for family. This is a temporary visa and perhaps the most popular tourist visa for Australia. The application processing fee is currently 140AUD. This visa has 4 streams:

Travel Stream: Designed for those who want to travel to Australia on vacation or to visit family or friends. If you are applying for this visa while in Australia, you must be in Australia when the outcome of your application is made. If you are outside Australia at the time of application, you must also be outside Australia at the time the outcome of your application is reached.

Business Stream: is for business travelers traveling to Australia for a short business trip. This includes attending conferences and business meetings. You must be out of Australia at the time of visa application as well as when the outcome of the application is obtained.

Sponsored Family Visa: Designed for people traveling to Australia to visit family or close relatives. You must have a sponsor for this visa, who may be required to attach a security deposit. You must be outside Australia at the time of visa application and at the time when the outcome of the application is made. You will also not be able to apply for a second visa after arriving in Australia.

Approved Destination Status: This is for nationals of the People's Republic of China traveling in organized tour groups. You must be outside Australia at the time of visa application and at the time when the outcome of the application is made.

* A tourist purpose means a holiday in Australia or a visit to family, relatives and / or friends.

* Visit Australia for business purposes involves attending conferences, negotiating or researching markets for business purposes.

Conditions and obligations of the visa holder

You must not work in Australia

You must not study or take a course for longer than 3 months.

No further stay condition - If you have a No further stay condition on your visa, you cannot apply for a new visa while in Australia. You must leave Australia no later than the date indicated as your visa expiry date.

Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) - one business day

eVisitor (subclass 651) - one business day

Visitor (subclass 600) - 15 to 29 business days
